What's your favourite MANGA?

We all love manga here, right? I personally love reading them, getting lost into the panels and experience a great story...
So, let's talk about it here: what is/are your favourite manga? Do you have favourite authors? Are they even japanese in the first place?

  • I love all of the Madoka Magica manga adaptations, but I specially like the Different Story series. A great take on an alternate story about Mami and Kyouko, with great panels drawn by Hanokage.
  • Yumekui Merry, by Yoshitaka Ushiki. Action-packed series about a dream-demon-girl? and a dream-aura-looking boy fighting nightmares. Simple story, but has a special place in my heart for being the first manga I ever read online!
  • Also, Yotsuba&!, by Kiyohiko Azuma is a great example of children comedy done right. Cute and simple, but yet entertaining as heck.
  • FullMetal Alchemist, by Hiromu Arakawa. A modern classic. A shonen masterpiece. Period.
  • I'll mention a web-manga that is not actually written or drawn by japanese authors, but I still find amazing by its own merits (specially the art style, IT'S BRILLIANT!): Devil's Candy, by Clint Bikham and (the great) Priscilla Hamby.
  • More cuteness, but with a horror vibe: Kuro, by Somato. A web-manga about an adorable girl called Coco and her mysterious cat, Kuro. And it's mostly coloured!
  • From France, Radiant comes, written and drawn by Tony Valente: a shonen story with a vibrant world, incredibly charismatic characters and cool-looking, clean and satisfactory fight scenes.
So that's enough, I think... I would go on, mentioning also mangakas from different parts of the world, and mangas that I like mostly for the artwork... but you might be bored already, so please, share your opinions on the wonderful medium that manga is!

Here is a list of my favorite Manga series:

  • Sailor V and Sailor Moon by. Naoko Takeuchi.

  • Wedding Peach by. Sukehiro Tomita and Nao Yazawa.

  • Fushigi Yuugi by. Yuu Watase.

  • Ultra Maniac by. Wataru Yoshizumi.

  • Kimi ni Todoke by. Karuho Shiina.

I have a lot of favorite Manga series, but I don't think I can write all of them on here since there's too many of them. Sorry for not being able to provide a description for why these Manga series are my favorites because I'm really not that good at writing descriptions.

Pure and classic shoujo. Great choices!
Don't worry about descriptions, I just like writing... and extending my posts too much! Sorry!

I have to agree with you on Madoka Magica. Everything fit so perfectly with my taste. However, my favourite segment is Rebellion.
Rozen Maiden. The artstyle is amazing and it is one of the things that really brought me into liking anime and manga and dolls. It's about a shut-in kid who signs a paper and suddenly receives a doll that verbally abuses him is in the midst of a battle between six other dolls, and forces him to become her medium or else he will die.
+Anima, Card Captor Sakura and Magical x Miracle are also old favourites. However, I never read past season one of Sakura, and the other two only have 5-10 volumes.
Angel Beats! - Heaven's Door is amusing. I haven't read it for too long, so I will go do that when I am finished this post.
Then there's the more recent Komi-san Wa Komyushou Desu and Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai, filled with rich entertainment.
I searched images of Devil's Candy, and it looks cute, so I'll probably check it out later. I'll also be mentioning a web-comic: Rain is upbeat and fun, but there's a dark twist of harsh reality that only grows the further you read, The best part is, the writer experienced similar issues, and there's a lot of facts in there.
There are a few more, but I cannot recall their names right now. I can read and re-read these over and over again, and they never cease to amuse me, which is rare considering how quickly I get bored of repetition.

I now have to add another webcomic to my favourites list:
  • Apricot Cookie(s), by Louis Lloyd-Judson. A parodic magical girl manga about a girl that cannot transform into a magical girl... when THE ENTIRETY OF JAPANESE GIRLS CAN! It's a ton of fun, and it'd made me laugh out loud almost every page. I'm not exagerating. It showcases a well crafted and veeeery smart humour that satirizes modern anime tropes.
And it has one of the best webpages I've seen in a long time. Simple, intuitive and full of silly BUT AWESOME details, so well made you can't resist to return once and once again to read the comic.

I have an anime manga, but it's not magical girl manga. It's been translated to english, but I don't know if this is as the same as the original manga. I also have the animation for this.

Oh, I've heard about it! New Game!
It look over-the-top cute. It's about a group of girls that make videogames, isn't it?
Is it a 4-koma or a regular manga?
Did you enjoy it? Is It your favourite?

Every character on this anime is cute.
Before everything else, this manga anime or the animation itself has a touch of Yuri or should I say it's genre is Yuri. But none a single episode exhibit a girl-to-girl relationship. And of course, it's one of my favorite anime.

New Game! is a regular manga. Some parts of the manga were aired on TV series. The animation has 2 seasons and each seasons has 12 episodes. It also has an Ova.

If you haven't seen the anime, try watching it on the internet.

So it has soft yuri elements... Guess it makes sense when you put a full female cast.

What I meant with "regular manga" is that each chapter tells a story and if panel layout is different from page to page.
4-koma manga are usually organized as 4-panel strips that tell a joke or a funny situation in each page, so they are not typical serialized manga.

Ahaha...I guess I don't know my manga yet. I just love to read them but never bother what kind of manga they are. My bad! ?
This is embarrassing ?
Well I don't know exactly what to call it but let me show you a sample.003.jpg004.jpg

Nahhhh, don't feel embarrassed or anything like that! The important thing is that you know the story itself and enjoy it.

Okay, now that I see it, I'm pretty sure they have the 4-koma structure, BUT they keep continuity and tell the same story through consecutive pages. Still, every 4 panel row seems like a different gag, so I'd say it's a 4-coma.

Also, the art is great-looking, the lines are really clean and it makes a masterful use of screentones
And as I expected, it's UNBEARABLY CUTE! Characters are sooooo kawaii!! ?

Ah... so that's how you call it...
Yup! Definitely and undeniably super cute!

Wow... that looks quite professional to be made by fans. It looks awesome!
Can it be read on the internet? If so, where?

Now that you showed this, perhaps we should open a new thread dedicated to fan-works we enjoyed...

I would like to, maybe someday.

The source where I get the manga came from...ahem!...not suitable for ages 18 below. It so happen that this manga gotten mixed to this "website" but not all fan made manga there is ...ahem!...you know! So, I'm sorry I can't tell. There might be a teenage member in this forum and I don't want to expose them to "mysterious adventure" world.

Oh... so... is it an "adult" kind of manga? You know what I mean...
Of course, we don't want links with explicit content that younger users could see. Better this way. Although is sad that the only way to read this manga is trough that kind of website...

Yup! So, I downloaded the entire chapter. Good thing that this Decade Precure manga is a child friendly (well, some part of it.) I'll try to upload the manga so everyone can read it. But I need to change the aspects first. The files are way to big for posting.

My favourite manga is Sailor Moon. In my opinion, it's much better than the anime version of it! I like Cardcaptor Sakura as well, but not as much as Sailor Moon.
