Tell us about your own Magical Girls!

#1
Woohoo, first post here.

Anyway, writers of MGF (if there are more than just me and Loco del Lápiz), I wanna get to know your magical girl characters! Who are they? What are their personalities? What (or who) are they fighting? What is their life outside of being a magical girl? Do they have an adorable, frilly outfit to kick butt in?!

Please don't be shy, I wanna hear all about her/him/them! I'll share mine too, if anyone asks!

My wife's more of a writer than I am. She's pretty busy right now but awhile back she did some conceptual work for our Magical Girl game.

Her original idea for the main character was a girl who was super into aliens and U.F.O.'s and such... and then Star Twinkle Precure came out. The idea probably wouldn't seem as original anymore! It's okay though, we're still a ways away from finalizing anything story-wise.

I do have Magical Girl characters... too many of them, in fact!
Actually, I have several MG stories in mind, four come to my mind now, so... which one do I talk about first?

They all have different tones,
  • one is a really serious and grounded take on the genre (similar to the way the movie Unbreakable treated superheroes), and it could be argued that it's more of an drama/thriller story rather than a fluffy and cute mahou shoujo tale.
  • a middle-ground one with some drama and more lighthearted moments, full of shounen-esque action, revolving around the idea of magical girls facing corrupted magical girls AROUND THE ENTIRE WORLD,
  • an even more silly and cute one, but with a slightly dark (but no overdrammatic or depressing) background revolving a magical school (kind like Little Witch Academia+Boku No Hero Academia)
  • and a straight-up parody that takes place in the same universe as the previous story I mentioned... with a main character that is sick most of the time, and take too many medicines... which decrease her powers.
Aaaaand I'll probably have more ideas, but these four are the ones that popped into my mind... and I haven't even talked about the characters themselves! YIKES!

Wow, awesome!! I only have one I'm working on right now, you sound like you have a really full plate o_O

I like the idea of the first one (I don't mind dark magical girl shows as long as there's thought put into them), and the second one sounds really interesting, I love when the monsters of the world are given more thought then just 'evil entity'. My story actually has something similar to that too!
The third one is interesting too, I've seen the 'magical girl school' done before but as fan fictions and little one off episodes, not as a whole comic/series.
Since outfits are important to the magical girl genre, I imagine a magical girl school being like a cuter, more wholesome Kill la Kill; the cuter the outfit, the more power it has!

Also the girl in the 4th one sounds downright precious, I'd love to read a story about her and her sickly adventures, lol.

Cute! We need more nerdy magical girls :D One of my characters is like that too, except she's super into conspiracy theories as well.
You could keep her as having weird/creepy interests, maybe change it to ghosts or something? A fascination with mysterious deaths & disappearances? A love for researching cryptids like the chupacabra?

The fun thing about Akamarak Akamarak 's wife magical girl is that the nerd is the main character... Something quite unusual, since these characters tend to be secondary.

And there are aliens involved! I also created a Pokémon/Digimon-like magical boys and girls story with cute aliens that grant them elemental powers. Extraterrestial life is a fascinating concept...

Good idea! Our current story idea actually does involve ghosts, so that would be a good way to keep that same feeling for the main character.

Something I like about HeartCatch Precure is that the main character is more of a shy character (hmm... I'm not sure if she would count as actually being 'nerdy' though).

And aliens and fun creatures are great! I love Pokemon/enjoyed what I did see of Digimon a long time ago, so it would be fun to see how that type of concept could be combined with magical girls!

Oh that's right, we haven't heard about your characters/story yet harvester rose! harvester rose! What is your story about?
Oh jeez, I could go on about my story for paragraphs...
Basically, It's about a normal, high school girl who gains powers from this magical crown (she gets from her mentor) in order to take down giant, violent monsters from an alternate dimension. But after like 2 battles, she decides she doesn't want to fight on her own anymore, and decides to split up her power to give to 4 more girls in order to form a team. It's a simple concept, just 5 girls fighting evil monsters and bad guys, but it goes really deep into the psychology of each of the characters and the relationships they form with each other. Of course, it will when I start actually writing it, heh..

Also the main characters' magical girl name is Harvester Rose, which is why I chose it as my name. All of the magical girls on the team follow the same motif, Harvester (flower).

Sounds like it could be interesting! How would you describe the main characters?
