Yay! A forum dedicated to magical girls and junk! I actually found this site by Googling "Magical Girl Forum" because I wanted to start a magical girl role play and need to know if there was any interest in the concept. Well, this site came up, and so I began lurking, checking things out, and hoping that the yellow flags I was seeing were just all in my head. (Things like low thread count-- but that can be totally fixed, for I am a Magical Girl and my power is creative writing (and sarcasm)!
I've been a forum administrator on and off since 2003, mostly running with SMF, however, I'm eager to give XenForo a try, it's a pretty sweet user experience--just initially expensive. My first forum was a Princess Ayeka fan shrine that morphed into a Tenchi Muyo fan club, that exploded into my current passion of combining anime characters, settings and worlds with role playing. I also happen to adore shoujo anime, specifically the genres of magical girl (duh!), science fiction, harem, romantic comedy and gender-benders, among others that I need to consume more coffee to remember. My favorite anime are Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Ah! My Goddess, Tenchi Universe, and my first love was Ranma 1/2. To which, I'm kind of surprised not to see any discussions about MGLN here, but perhaps it's hidden deep in the bowels of the underbelly of the site, just waiting to be unleashed so that together we can take over the world! MUHAHAHAHA. (Really, don't mind me. I'm crazy. ... and quite frankly, too old to really care anymore.)
My current projects include a magical girl crossover fan fiction, that involve Skuld (Ah! My Goddess), Sasami (Magical Project S), and Fate Testarossa (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha) as they naviagte the world of chaos within Excel Saga. I'm trying out a new software to write it called Scrivener, and I'm pretty impressed by it. Writing by scene instead of linearly is totally game changing! I'm already mentioned above about my magical girl role play based in the setting of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, called Magical Lyrical Radiant Strike Force. (Who saw that coming??) This is the first time I've created a forum specifically to house a role playing game, so it's kind of a new experience for me. But apparently, it's popular among other creative writers like myself and more immersive, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Of course the end goal is to not only create a wonderfuly rememberable tale, but to make friends-- which I'm in desperate need of! Coworkers that are two hours away and not into anime at all just don't fill my cup of tea! Finally the third major project I have going is writing my own original fiction. (I'm going to slighly alter the title because I don't know what the policy here on profanity) FARTS: Blowing Stuff Up! FARTS is an acronym for Federal Anomalous Response Tactical Squad. This is a parody story about a group of five magical girl misfits working in an organization similar to the team SG-1 in the TV series StarGate SG1. I'll describe more about that if there's any interest.
My other hobbies aren't quite as exciting. I like cooking and baking, I'm decent at writing code scripts and making databases. I generally like helping other people. But as you can tell, I'm fairly long winded, and I'm sure you're ready to gouge your eyeballs out just reading all this insane nonsense, so until later, Have fun!
